As part of the worldwide promotional tour of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2006-2007, the Indian segment of the DSF roadshow concluded in the south Indian state of Kerala on December 1.
The one-day roadshow held at Le Meridien, Kochi, marked the launch of the combined 11th and 12th editions of the DSF in Kerala during which the Dubai delegation including the DSF team of Laila Suhail, Chief Marketing Officer, Yousuf Mubarak, Events, Operations and Services Director, and Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group's Managing Director Tawhid Abdullah and other officials unveiled the various attractions awaiting Indian visitors to Dubai.
A unique blend of shopping, entertainment and winning offering prizes worth millions of dirhams including luxury cars, gold and cash plus the purchase-based prizes from key and support sponsors and over 3,000 participating retail outlets was laid out in front of the large gathering of distinguished guests including Government officials, businessmen and the media who were treated to a professionally-organised evening of fun and food on Friday.

Extending an open invitation to Indians to attend the DSF and experience world-class shopping and entertainment extravaganza she emphasised on the incredible winning opportunities up for grabs this time round. She said, 'Two Lexus cars (worth Rs. 5,214,000 approximately) and cash prize of Rs. 1,185,000 can be won every single day of the festival. The total value of this is approximately Dh30 Million(30 crores), fully tax free,' added Laila Suhail.
Announcing the details of DSF 2006-07, Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) remarked, 'DSF is now much more than a popular shopping time with winnings galore and entertainment. Our visitors can treasure and experience hundreds of events of various cultures and get a real feel of the excitement and adventure that Dubai offers to everyone. There will be shopping offers beyond expectation at this year's DSF.'
Explaining the reason for choosing Kerala as the destination to launch the DSF's maiden roadhsow in India this year Tawhid Abdullah added, 'Total annual gold demand in India is pegged at 800 tonnes out of which Kerala enjoys a whopping 45 per cent share. Keralites will very much love the high quality gold jewellery available at DSF and the daily mega prizes on offer.'
During the roadshow, the DSF team highlighted the theme of World of Festivals encompassing a rich tapestry of attractive shopping and entertaining events with its new look of Dubai Fashion hosting designer wear by top international fashion houses, the Night Souq with its leisurely Bargain Night Shopping, Dubai Carnivals, House of Talents, exciting Guinness World Record events, Sports and water shows, Street Performances and Carnivals by international troupes, food festivals, daily fireworks, heritage and cultural activities, conferences and exhibitions and entertainment shows hosting music concerts, plays and star shows from around the globe.
The combined editions of DSF 2006-2007 will run from December 20, 2006 to February 2, 2007. The 45 days of family fun, entertainment and shopping frenzy will offer retrospective glimpses of the 10 previous editions combining the best of the best and promises to be even bigger and better.
