With just about two weeks left for Dubai Shopping Festival 2008 to commence, the DSF Office is receiving applications for one of its famed shopping destinations, the Night Souk. Based on the idea of leisure shopping through the evenings and late into the nights, Night Souk attracts a majority of DSF shoppers during festival edition. Retailers have until January 15 to register their outlets.

While shopping is generally associated with crowds and crowded places, the revamped Night Souk will feature a new design this year to provide for a pleasant outing for every family. To be held along the Dubai Creek, visitors to the 2008 Night Souk will find themselves caressed by cool winds as they stroll leisurely among the many outlets lined up. Set against a picturesque backdrop, the Night Souk is a must-visit for all visitors this DSF.

Initiated during the 2003 edition of DSF, the Night Souk has grown immensely in terms of popularity by combining an ambience of outdoor venue with sales of well-known international brands at extremely competitive prices.

Yousif Mubarak, DSF Events, Operations, and Logistics Director said, “Shopping is a core element of every DSF edition and each year, we endeavour to enhance the shopping experience for all visitors and tourists. Over the years, Night Souk has evolved to become a distinct venue including not just shopping but providing entertainment for families throughout the festival. The DSF Office would like to welcome all visitors to the Night Souk this year, not only for the bargains but also for a unique experience.”

The Night Souk, known as DSF’s leisure shopping venue, is based on a unique concept where retail outlets are open till wee hours of the night to allow shoppers the luxury of browsing through the wide array of goods that will be on display.

The 2008 Night Souk can be visited at the Al Seef Street between January 24 and February 24 – the duration of DSF 2008. As the name suggests, Night Souk encourages bargaining and includes well-known retailers in Dubai selling a wide range of goods, in addition to having restaurants and an entertainment area.

Retail outlets in Night Souk will be open to visitors from 6pm to 2am from Sundays to Wednesdays, and from 6pm to 3am on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. As per the conditions for participating outlets, goods will be sold either at cost price or wholesale prices.
