With an amalgam of cultures, cuisines and crafts from across the globe, Delhi will very soon have its own carnival to beat Dubai! Brazilian samba and Egyptian belly dancers will sizzle alongside the spiciest, juiciest, tastiest cuisine from all over the world.
But, the high point will be the shopping. Merchandise from all over the world will be on display, with handicrafts from each country taking centre stage at its pavilion, from exotic beads to luxurious linen. Welcome to the Times Global Village! A project that is slated to work wonders in India! As consumers' tastes go global, world companies are eager to cater to them and showcase the best of their countries' culture as well.
Suraj Kund is passe; we have seen enough of what India has on offer at the Trade Fair... so, what's new? Well, India is poised to see a bit of the world now! And, the world is poised to step into Delhi so we get a thoroughly electrifying global experience!
All's set to change with the Times Global Village India. Inspired by the Global Village Dubai, which coincides with the Dubai Shopping Festival, the Village will be set up over 20 acres of land near the DND flyway. With 15-35 countries participating in this month-long extravaganza, starting March, Delhi is ready to crank up the action a few notches.
Those who have been part of the annual Dubai Shopping Festival, which is on currently, would remember the Global Village that is the pivotal part of experience. A veritable global shopper's paradise in the middle of the desert. No doubt the Dubai Shopping Festival offers something that no other shopping extravaganza does – variety, class, mega-entertainment, but it goes beyond that and offers the ambience that goes with a world-class shopping experience. For the global village, countries from across the world come to Dubai each year and get set to wow.
For some years now, India has participated in the Global Village and the India pavilion has been one of the most popular attractions at the Global Village. This year is no different. But this time round, once the Dubai round is done, at least 15 countries are all set to trip across to India and pitch their pavilions here!
For once, all India shoppers, from the low to the middle and upper crust will have something to look forward to countries' culture as well. |
