Classic cars and bikes to grace Dubai roads in a show of class

Dubai, UAE - January 17, 2007: The Dubai Shopping festival pays tribute to classic cars and bikes by hosting a Classic Cars and Bikes Parade on January 19. Organised by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) in association with the Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF), the classic cars parade will feature some of the rarest collectibles on the roads of Dubai. A major attraction of the DSF, the show will be one to look forward to for all car enthusiasts, connoisseurs and collectors. Dubai Police and Dubai RTA will provide the much needed support to ensure that the event proceeds smoothly. Participants who wish to take part in this special event can contact the Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF) on 04-2827111.

Major Omar Ali Al Shamsi, member of the DSF Organizing Committee and Head of the DSF Welcoming Committee said, "Under the guidance of His Excellency Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the Naturalisation and Residency Department, DNRD continues to organize the classic cars and bikes parade that has complemented the Dubai Shopping Festival since its inception. The event has witnessed overwhelming attendance in the previous years by motor enthusiasts and the general public as well. The show is a unique opportunity to view some of the oldest and the rarest cars in the world today."

At 4pm sharp, the rally of classic cars will tee-off from the Heritage Village and proceed towards Zabeel Park in a fascinating display of class and sophistication. World War II era models and cars up to the early 1980s will feature in the procession, highlighting the exclusiveness of the parade. The show will witness an increase of cars this year in addition to more police personnel to ensure that traffic is not disrupted at the rally points.

Ibrahim Saleh, Chief Operating Office of DSF said, "DSF constantly endeavours to organize and present unique cultural and sports events to visitors and residents in Dubai. The Classic Cars and Bikes Parade has become an essential event in the calendar since DSF's inception. We would like to thank Dubai Police and RTA for their support in facilitating and organizing this parade."

Khalid Al Malik, General Secretary of the Emirates Motor Sports Federation said, "The Classic Cars and Bikes Parade attracts a wide segment of the society, especially the youth who are thrilled by the event. The UAE, in general, and Dubai, in particular, are considered to have the rarest cars in the world on its roads."

The combined edition of DSF 2006-2007 began on December 20, 2006 and will run until February 2, 2007. The 45 days of family fun, entertainment and shopping frenzy will offer retrospective glimpses of the 10 previous editions combining the best of the best and promises to be even bigger and better.
